I was born in Jerusalem, Israel in 1979, to an American father and an Israeli mother, growing up in a bilingual household. When I was a year old, we moved to the US, where we would spend the next 7 years and then return to Israel. Israelis usually start learning English in elementary school and most can speak English to varying degrees of proficiency. Yet translation between such different languages requires a unique skillset that I possessed from a young age.
I graduated from Bar Ilan University with a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Economics in 1999 and from Hebrew University with a master’s degree in International Relations in 2008. I also worked for a time in the Israeli Justice Ministry, in the department responsible for issuing and accepting bids for government contracts. I began translating documents from English to Hebrew and from Hebrew to English around 2012 as an independent contractor, translating medical, government, legal, financial, insurance and educational documents for various clients in Israel and other English-speaking countries. As such, I am thoroughly familiar with Israel’s legal and financial systems, as well as the taxation process and insurance companies.
I have lived in the US since 2014, working remotely as an independent contractor as well as for a large company that deals with interpretation of telephone and video conversations with Hebrew-speakers.
